Cats — the musical that is. Duck thought it would be quite the treat to take Doodle to see Cats (one of several off Broadway shows that come to a nearby city). We went last night and it was definitely a sight to see. I have to say though, that for the first Act, I was totally lost as was Doodle and I think, Duck as well. There was a lot of great dancing and wonderful costumes, but the songs were hard to understand. You see, us country folk aren’t well versed in Cats — at least none like these. Perhaps I should have read the story behind the musical before we went.

During intermission, Doodle and I went to the restroom (why don’t they make women’s bathrooms bigger?). I think she was getting tired and wondering when it was going to be over. She asked me lots of questions about the show, most of which I could not answer. Thankfully there was a young girl (maybe 11?) behind us in line who shared her wonderful view of the show (and calling the cats by name which is so much more than I picked up!). The second Act though did not disappoint. More lights. More action. More dancing. More singing that I actually understood the words to

All in all, we had a decent time. I think we concluded though that dog people might want to skip Cats. While it was interesting, I’m sure there were things in there that only cat people would understand I’m wondering if they’ll ever come out with Dogs. Deep stuff we’re contemplating here. Deep stuff.
